The Green Acorn Guest House is located in the town of Ficksburg, which lies nestled beneath the beautiful Imperani Mountain at the heart of the Free State Highlands. Lesotho’s majestic Maluti’s are a backdrop to our beautiful town, changing with the seasons, from the purple haze of summer, to the snow clad slopes in winter.
The Ficksburg Cherry Festival which occurs annually, is the longest running festival in South Africa. The cherries are harvested from October to December and the festival is held. It is held in November each year. It stretches over 3 days and attracts up to 30,000 people. The festival presents quality family shows and activities like the herding of sheep, horse rides, camel rides, helicopter flips, steam train rides at Sandstone Estate, tours through town to see the beautiful sandstone building architecture which Ficksburg is also very well known for. There are numerous Cherry Farms on the outskirts of Ficksburg too where one can go on tours, pickings and tastings.
The guest house is a fantastic spot to over-night or as a mid-week/weekend getaway. For travellers, its ambiance and uniquely decorated guest rooms, filled with eclectic collections, serves as a comfortable Home-Away-From-Home. DStv and WiFi are available at Green Acorn.
Ficksburg is situated at the gateway of Lesotho’s primary tourist destinations, including the Katse Dam, Afriski Ski Resort, Oxbow Ski Resort and many more. Lesotho is not the only attraction that this region offers the visitor – just to breathe the unpolluted mountain air makes a visit here worth-while. Rest and relax in Cafe Chocolat’s Restaurant (found on the Green Acorn Property), where cosy winter evenings can be savoured around a roaring log fire or enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal from the a la carte menu. The Gin-Ger Gin Bar is also found on our premises.
The Green Acorn Guest House offers an incredible breakfast that is spoken of all over the country. “The best in town”, they say!
